Link's Awakening was the fourth game to the series as well as the first one on the go. The game took place in a different land instead of the classic Hyrule. Link is on a ship when a storm hits, and he washes up on shore. The only way that Link can make it off the island is if he collects the 8 instruments and awakens the Wind Fish.

In Link's Awakening, there are many of the same things that appeared in past games. The game is set once again in a top down perspective like LOZ and ALTTP. Many of the same items appeared such as the Bow and Arrow and Boomerang. Also, the game introduced collectable items. There are 24 secret Seashells hidden around the Island. Getting them all will unlock a secret. Later on, Nintendo released a DX version. This version had color instead of black and white. The DX version has a few new secrets to it.
