Spirit Tracks Boss Guide
Stagnox : Armored Colossus
Stagnox is the first and one of the easiest bosses in the game. This thing is a giant Stag Beatle that flies around the battle arena. The first phase of this battle is really easy. When you start the battle, Stagnox will remain on the ground. It simply spins around you and occasionally swoops his hand at you. When it is spinning, you want to run all the way around to its purple tail like part. After a little bit, Stagnox will stop and attack. Since your to far away, you can't get harmed. Now pull out the Whirlwind and remove the purple fog from his tail. As soon as this is all gone, attack it as much as you can just Stagnox jumps back up and starts the process again. Do this 2 more times and it will jump into the air.
This phase can be a little bit trickier. Stagnox will appear on the top screen of your game. It will shoot 3 Bomb Worms down. As soon as it does this, you want to hit the worm so it turns into a bomb, but don't blow the bomb up. Now pull out the Whirlwind and get lined up with Stagnox. It will come swooping down. When it is right at the top of the touch screen, blow the Whirlwind so a bomb ends up hitting Stagnox on its swoop. If you time it correctly, and get the right angle, Stagnox will fly into the air, and drop down. Now attack the purple tail till it gets back up. Repeat this 2 more times until you defeat the first boss.
Fraaz : Master of Icy Fire
Fraaz can be one of the hardest bosses in the game. Fraaz looks like a giant inflatable bat that either has a fire or ice coating. Take note of the two different torches before you start the battle. When the battle starts, Fraaz will inflate a little and either have fire or ice on the outside. Depending on what element it is, use the Boomerang and target the OPPOSITE element and have it go to Fraaz. So if Fraaz was fire, you would take the ice torch and hit him and vise versa. If you hit him with the same element, he will grow in size, so be careful. Once you hit him one time, it will get stunned, so go crazy and attack it.
It will now split into 2 mini versions of it self. It is the exact same concept as before. If you hit one of them, and don't get the other in a period of time, the one you hit will come back. Once you got both down, it will turn back into Fraaz. Now he takes in some more air, thus getting bigger and fatter. Also, he breaks the torches. This isn't a big problem. Now, Fraaz will shoot an element out of it's mouth. If it is fire, it will shoot fire balls at you. If it is ice, it will shoot one big ice block over the room. When he does that, take the opposite one again, and hit him. You may need to hit it 2 times this time. Once you get him down to nothing, he will be stunned again. Attack till it breaks into 2 smaller versions.
This is the same thing as last time, but there's no torch. Theses little ones will shoot fire balls and ice balls at you. Target those and then target the small guys to make Fraaz come back. This time he takes in the most air. You will have to hit him 3 times with the right element to stun him. After you do, deliver the final blows to it.
Phytops : Barbed Menace
Phytops is a small barbed Cyclops with 4 arms. The battle can get a bit fast in the end, so it's always a good challenge. When the battle starts, there will be 2 barbed arms to the right and left of you. You want to take the whip and grab a thorn from it. Take the thorn that you just grabbed and throw it at Phytops head. Try to aim for the middle, because the eye is right there. Do this again with the other arm and throw it so it reveals the entire eye. If you didn't reveal the whole eye, keep doing it till you do. Now take another thorn and throw it right into the eye of Phytops. This will sun him and let us go over and attack his eye. I would prefer to do Spin Attacks. They deal the most damage and makes it go faster.
It will get back up and the other arms from behind will come up. These are some fierce arms. They slap down at you trying to hit you. Do your best to avoid them. If you would get hit, you might even fall off the edge, so try to stay toward the front. After a few slaps, the head will come back up. Grab the thorns and get to the eye again. Once you hit the eye, deal some more damage to it. This is pretty much the whole battle. It does get a little faster in the end, with all the arms out at once, but you can handle it. Repeat that whole process until you finally defeat Phytops.
Cragma : Lava Lord
Cragma is one of the most fun bosses in the game. This thing is a giant lava monster that is made of hardened lava. When the battle starts, he will pound the ground. This will cause some molten rocks to fall from the sky. You can use these to find arrows if you need some. (You will need a lot of them) When he rises up to pound, you will see a little spot on its stomach that is not hard and a really bright orange. Shoot it with an arrow to cause harm to it. It will get super mad at you and take both hands and pound at once. This will let a giant dark rock fall from the sky. You can use a bomb to blow it up, or wait for him to smash it. Once it's smashed, a little tile will be left behind. Carry it to the right and you will find a lava spout. Throw it on it and jump into the Mine Cart.
This is when the battle gets fun. Take out your arrow and shoot at all of the soft lava spots in its body. Once you get them all on a level, the cart will go up a level. Work your way to the top of the Mine Cart rail and you will get to his eye. Shoot an arrow at his eye and he will fall down to the floor. The cart will get to the end of its track and Link will fall out. Go over to Cragma, and attack his head. Do this whole process 1 more time and you will defeat Cragma.
Byrne
Byrne is one of the fastest bosses in the game. This is the first boss battle in which Link and Zelda both fight. When the battle starts, Byrne starts jumping from pillar to pillar shooting little beams at Link and Zelda. Make sure you keep Zelda out of the way. Once in a while, Byrne will launch his fierce claw at you or Zelda. If it's at you, run out of the way. If it's at Zelda, quickly move her. If it doesn't hit anyone, it will stick to the floor. Now have draw a path for Zelda to go to the claw. You will get a little circle that appears by it. When she gets there, she will pull it and Byrne will fall off the pillar he is on. Have Link go over and attack him.
After another time or two, Byrne will not go back up on a pillar. This is when you really have to be patient. You can either wait until his big claw has a purple aurora around it, or go up to him and attack him till you hit him. When the claw turns purple, hide behind Zelda. Byrne will come charging at you, but if Zelda's in front, she will block and hold him. Have Link run around and attack him from behind. Do this a few more times and you will beat Byrne.
Skeldritch : Ancient Demon
Skeldritch is one of the coolest bosses in the game. It looks like a giant skull snake. When the battle starts, Skeldritch will have 5 main parts to his body. The goal is to destroy these to get to his head. To do this, pull out the Sand Wand. Go in front of him so you have enough room to get a boulder and stay close to the devices things in the room. Use the Sand Wand to build up a wall and when a boulder comes, try to block it and move it close to a device. You want to get it to land on it. When it's set, hit the switch and it will shoot over to Skeldritch. This will crack the first part. Do this again for the second part.
Now is when it starts to get tricky. The little spikes on its body will crush a boulder on impact. So you want to make Skeldritch move around so that the open spot on its body will get hit by a boulder. Use the same strategy you did with the first part. Also, you would be best off to use the Boomerang to hit the switch. When doing this section, be aware that he will shoot off multiple boulders at once. Be aware of the laser that he shoots as well. This will crumble a boulder on contact. Once you got all of the body parts broken, just the head will remain.
This part is similar to the Eox battle in Phantom Hourglass. Use the Sand Wand to trap the head and get up on the higher level. Don't let the head get away, so keep the sand around it fresh. Get over to the Crystal on its head and attack it. Do this one more time to defeat it.
Demon Train
The Demon Train is another fun boss battle. You will ride around on your train while attacking it. Before I describe how to beat it, there's a few things you should know about in the battle. At times, the Demon Train will go to the right or left without warning. You want to slam on the brakes and if possible, switch tracks. Also, there might be some smudge on the tracks. Usually right before that is a track that lets you switch tracks. You want to avoid theses at all costs.
When the battle starts, the Demon Train will only use the last car on it. This car will open its doors and reveal some barrels. You want to hit them as fast as you can with your cannon. If you take to long, the barrel will fall on the tracks and cause you damage. After a few hits to each one, that section will blow up. After all are destroyed, the last car on the Demon Train will fall off. The Demon Train then goes into a portal.
The next section is very similar to the first one. This time however, the Demon Train will use lasers instead of barrels. Simply use the cannon to destroy them fast. Once all of them are destroyed, the next section of the Demon Train will fall off.
The last section of the Demon Train is a little different than the previous ones. This time, there are several lasers that shoot out. They move up and down, so be cautious. You want to hit the parts of the laser that don't shoot. Once all of those are gone, the train will slow down. Now your Spirit Train will get ahead of it and now fire all your shots on the head. After quite a few shots, you will defeat the Demon Train.
Malladus (Zelda)
The first battle against Malladus is a short and epic one. The battle consists of the Demon Malladus inside of Princess Zelda's body. This is the second battle that Zelda actually takes a main part in. When the battle starts, Cole will summon some ghost rats. You want to kill these as fast as you can. If the get to Zelda, she will get controlled by Cole and attack you. If this would happen, just use the Boomerang to cut the strings. You want to draw a path for Phantom Zelda all the way up to Malladus. Just go little by little at a time. Along the way, make sure you kill all the ghost rats that you come across.
Eventually, you will see Malladus start to shoot a laser beam at Link and Zelda. Make sure that Link stays behind Zelda and kill the rats that come by. When Zelda gets close to Malladus, have her grab it. Now Zelda is holding Malladus and floating around in the air. She tells Link to shoot Malladus with the Bow of Light. Take it out and aim as good as you can to hit Malladus. After a while, if you don't hit it, you will basically have to start the battle all over. Once you hit Malladus, the Demon will leave the body, and take us to the next battle.
Malladus (Cole)
The last battle is against none other than Malladus. This time, it ate Cole and is now in his form. This is by far the hardest boss in the game. When the battle starts, Zelda tells you to protect her from all of Malladus's attacks while she charges up some power. This is a lot harder than you would think. Malladus will shoot several molten rocks at them. Just slash at them with your sword to get rid of them. After a few, Malladus will shoot 4 of them at once. You want to use a Spin Attack right before they get there. Doing a second Spin Attack wouldn't hurt either. Just keep breaking all the rocks that come near. At the end, Malladus will shoot 4 of them, and 4 right after that. Do the same thing you did last time, but you don't want to do it to fast. After you block all of them, Zelda will be fully charged, and it takes you into a cut scene.
Here, Zelda calls upon the help of the spirits. She wants you to play the Spirit Flute and her humming. You will then have to play a difficult song. Doing this will reveal the weak spot on Malladus's back. Also, the 5 Lokomos from around the land will come and play there instruments too.
Back in the battle ground, you will see the mark on Malladus's back now. Zelda tells you to distract him while she fires the Bow of Light at him. You can see the back of Malladus on the top screen. When you find a yellow mark there, you can fire the bow. To do this, tap the Bow of Light icon on the bottom of the screen. Simply use Link to attack him and make him move. When the mark shows, shoot an arrow. After a few shots, Malladus will drop. Attack his head a few times and part of the horn will fall off. Do this 2 more times. The last time when you go, Link tries to jam the Lokomo's Sword into the skull of Malladus. Zelda comes over to help. Once you jam it in, you will have defeated Malladus!
